Situated in the 17th arrondissement, which is also one of the largest, this is the real Paris. The area was once a village with a castle called “Château Ternes”. It’s long gone, but a beautiful door remains and has been turned into the entrance of a small road “Rue Bayen”. The apartment is just 10 minutes walk from one of Paris’ best loved markets, “Rue Poncelet”. The atmosphere in the market is often village-like and it’s a favourite with a number of stars of French TV and film. Another frequent visitor was local resident and Irish Nobel-winning writer Samuel Beckett. Cafés are dotted throughout and invite you to linger and shop. A 20 minute stroll also takes you to Rue Fortuny This short residential street played home to a number of illustrious people. At number 2 the author Edmond Rostand penned Cyrano de Bergerac; at 13 the writer Marcel Pagnol lived; and 37 was home to actress Sarah Bernhardt; while at 46, Nicolas Sarkozy spent some of his childhood. A picturesque walk brings you to the Arc de Triomphe in about twenty minutes, or to one of the largest parks in Paris “Bois de Boulogne” in half an hour. This former royal hunting ground is now a huge public park with lakes, nature trails & botanical gardens. To access Paris’s wonderful metro system, use the stations Porte de Champerret, on line 3, or Gare de Neuilly – Porte Maillot, on line 1. Both stations are only a few minutes away on foot, and let you travel to the Louvre Museum in around 30 minutes. Cleaning: Your comfort is our top propriety. To ensure everything is ready when you arrive, our apartments receive a delivery of fresh linens, comforters and towels for your booking.
